Wow! That was a shocker that Tyra eliminated two models this week. I wonder if it is going to be a behind the scenes episode next week because she might end up with extra episode slots. Those are a complete waste of time. The show starts out with the girls getting an acting lesson , in case they have to do commercials etc, for their clients. They try to learn the “cockney dialect” and then get lines from My Fair Lady which they have to memorize for the next day. Next day when they go to the studio , they meet Boris Kodjoe , who will read the lines with them. Michelle keeps talking about how she has 4 years of drama, but she still sucks and Naima wins the prize and Brittney gets lots of praise. Tiffany doesn’t even try…dun dun dun. Anyway the girsl win $10,000 worth of diamond jewelry which is a really cool prize, especially after the lame one two weeks ago.
They get their summons for the photo shoot next day which is for WonderBra and according to the Judges and Tyra none of the pictures are really great. I think I agree with the judges on that too. But they did get to pose with a super hot guy and some of hte girls really enjoyed it and we got to know that Kahlen had never had a b.f. I think she is more like Shandi than Michelle. The girs then have to read from a teleprompter and pretend they are a guest host on a TV show. All of them really butcher their reading and can’t even pronounce half the words. But Brittany gets kudos for infusing a lot of personality into the reading. Tiffany comes out and says she can’t do it and when i saw it on the preview I thought she was illiterate. The judges encourage and cajole her and she sort of reads it and then mumbles how “humiliating” it is and walks off. Hmmm…question to Tiffany, if she did not want to be judged, why show up on a reality show??? Janice, as usual is really funny and if they don’t bring her back next season, I will totally give up on ANTM. Last week’s We are all fat comment was just too funny and bizarre and this week she starts humping Nigel to demonstrate lingerie modeling. Anyway, the rest of the judges tell Tyra, the girls need a wake up call and Tyra eliminates both Tiffany and Rebecca. And then when the girls are all saying goodbye Tyra just flips out and starts yelling at Tiffany about how she blew her chance. Now Tyra is not only trying to be Oprah, she is also trying to be Dr. Phil! After she berates and yells at tiffany some more, the show ends and we are supposed to believe that Tyra yelled at her because she cares about tiffany, which is total bullshit. Just because Tiffany didn’t break down and bawl like other girls and say thanks for giving me a chance, doesn’t mean she didn’t want to be on the show. Also Tyra didn’t pick Tiffany to make her life better, but to improve her ratings. I am really staring to dislike Tyra and her red hair and super tight shirts.
Anyhoo…here’s the list,
Brittany: Go Brittany, Go Brittany. This girl has been kicking ass, she has an awesome body and is actually trying to learn and work on her posing. Her photo was awesome and if I saw that photo for an ad for Wonderbra in a magazine , i wouldn’t guess that she was a model in training, I would think she was a real model.
Naima: Still my favorite and I think her picture was okay. Her pose is fine, but whoever did her hair did an awful job and it takes away from the picture
Kahlen: Her hair is really funky ,but I think her photo is good and her face looks cute. But its below average work for her.
Michelle:OMG…gasp…I can’t believe I am doing this. I still want her booted ASAP and she was still really weird on the show, but her pic was really great! If I was making this list bases solely on pics, Michelle would be #2 this week. I know I’m softening a little I guess.
Tatiana: Its a cute pic, She looks like a model from the victoria’s secret catalogue
Keenyah: I don’t know whats wrong with my girl Keenyah, but she is one of the bottom ones this week, because she looks porn starish in the pic. The wardrobe person did not giver her the right bra and her face is all hidden
Christina: Her pic is okay overall, but they should have given her a better bra. Maybe she is not cut out for lingerie modelling.
Eliminated- Rebecca: I actually liked her a lot in this episode, cuz she seemed nice and normal and it was cute how she was talking about her fiance and how she was glad she tried out but she was happy to go home and get married. Maybe she got so much airtime because she was being cut. Also it totally makes sense that Kahlen and her were best freinds because they were both super uptight last week.
Tiffany: I understand why the judges felt that she didn’t try enough or want it enough, becasue she did not put in any effort during this episode and her pic is really bad. But for Tyra to judge her based on her reaction after being cut was ridiculuous. Some people just make jokes after they have been hurt to deal with it, maybe its not Tiffany’s personality to let her weakness show.
Overall, a very satisfying episode.
I also watched Revelations last night to see if it would fill the void left by Xfiles but its only okay.

So , it was completely impossible to be around J because he was doing his taxes. It is understandable , taxes are a bitch and it makes everyone grumpy.
I avoided grumpiness by paying $150 to someone else to do mine. Hmm….one of the benefits of filing as a single person. I got to decide how to deal with my taxes , if paying someone was worth it or not! If J andI were married and filing together, i doubt we would have gone to H&R Block and we would be stressing over it and being bitchy and snarky to each other.
Its great being independent…..
Besides, I don’t understand the hoopla about refunds anyway. I don’t really think about what the govt owes me all year and in march I just keep hoping I don’t owe any more in taxes. I wish the govt would just do away with refund and set up standardized healthcare for all its citizens. Really , knowing I won’t have to declare bankruptcy for falling sick is a better refund than $600.

While returning from Petsmart today Layla decided she did indeed like to stick her face out of the car window. We stopped at the intersection of Erwin and Anderson and she jumped out from the window! Good thing we were stopped and we opened the door and got her back in.

It was a really good episode this week. Interesting photo shoot and a lot more house footage of the girls. Almost everyone seems really cool in the house. I was a little disappointed that Kahlen seemed so uptight, since she is one of my favorites.I understand she wants to be professional and not as rowdy as brittney but she looked like she wasn’t having any fun in the restaurant. Oh well. Their challenge in this episode was to go to a Cover Girl party and let their “inner beauty” show. I thought most of them did a good job. Tiffany was just weird in the party and kept to herself and Michelle wore this really unflattering dress and kept to herself. Keenyah won the challenge and picked Brittany to share her prize, which was staying at a 5 star hotel and getting a full VIP treatment- breakfast in bed, champagne, spa treatments, hanging out at the beach and getting to show up late for their photo shoot.
The Photo Shoot this episode was for a sexy mechanic at a gas pump. It was a fun concept, and I thought it was a great idea, but I could not see how it was a high fashion shoot. Tyra and judges always go on about how high fashion is so different from everyday pedestrian posing , but the shoot idea was something more in line for a calendar rather than a high fashion photo shoot. I just wish Tyra would make up here mind and stick to it. However despite this little inconsistency the photos all turned out really well and I think the girls enjoyed the shoot because it was a little difference.
Finally the girl that got sent home was Lluvy,because once again she had a bad pic and this was her 3rd time in the bottom two.
1) Brittany: She is still at the top,cuz she took a good pic and was really entertaining during the whole episode. If she wants to stick around, she probably should listen to everyone’s advice and tone it down a little. But I think even if she gets eliminated, I don’t think she will have too much trouble getting work in the modelling world.
2)Naima: She did not get a lot of airtime during this episode, but she seemed relaxed and looked like she was having fun at the restaurant and her pic was quite good. I don’t understand why Tyra thought the pic was too raunchy, I don’t think anyone else thought it was raunchy
3)Keenyah: She goes up the list a little cuz she seems more fun than Kahlen. THe judges were right , her pic could have been better
4) Kahlen: Great Pic! SHe needs to relax a little
5)Tatiana: I really like her picture with the tire, it was very creative and different.
6) Christina: Once again , she is solidly in the middle, she is not bad, but not great. I didnt really like her pic.
7) Becky: Strictly Okay! I think opposite of Tyra. I think her face looked good in the pic, and her body pose was a little too raunchy for “high fashion”
8) Tiffany: I didn’t really like Tiffany’s pic, but she is so weird and funny, she kept pulling down all the girls pants, when they would goof around. It was cute but it seemed like she was in grade school
9) Michelle: I really tried to give her a chance this episode, cuz i felt a little bad about the face eating bacteria thing, but in her picture she looks really frightening. I knew she was in it for the “pity” factor, when Tyra said “something about her tugs at my heartstrings” She is not the next shandi tyra and she does not tug at the viewers heartstrings
Eliminated: Lluvy, I felt a little bad for her, but I think she knew her time was up.
Next weeks preview looks interesting becuse it has Tyra yelling at some girl to “be quiet”, my guess is its either Brittany or Keenyah! I guess we’ll see!
I am afraid of fat. Of fat people, of being obese, of validating fat in any way. I am very acceppting about all sorts of other differences- race, gender, social status, blah blah.
i am terrified, if I praise obesity, i might accept it and then, i might become obese.
Why has our culture automatically linked fat = ugly. When I tell J, ” I feel fat today” he replies, “you are not fat, you are beautiful.” Why is that mutually exclusive? Why do i believe it? Why do I think if we keep telling ourself fat is beautiful or accept your body to women who are above a size 12, we are condoning something evil.
i know its not evil, I am just terrified. Thats why I watch ANTM, and other shows on TV with pretty people and I read the newsstand magazine, to validate my fears.
BTW today I feel fat!
Last night I saw Black at Galaxy Cinemas in Cary, and the movie was really touching. Its loosely based on the life of Hellen Keller, but this time it focuses on Michelle Mcnally, a 8 year old girl in Shimla India, who is deaf and blind and her teacher, who helps her communicate with the world. The story shows how she overcomes all sorts of obstacle and finally is able to get her degree. The movie also focuses on the teacher student relationship, and a role reversal that takes place when the teacher gets acute alzheimers and can’t remember words and their meanings and she tries to teach him everything he taught her. It
My friend and I were both crying really hard towards the end of the movie. It really helps put all my troubles in perspective, they all seem very minor compared to someone who lives in total darkness.The lighting and sets and costume were also really good. I loved the big house that Michelle lived in with her parents .
I ate a lot of junkfood last night though, my dinner was movie theater popcorn and candy. And I don’t even like popcorn. Oh well…
I’m being good for lunch today. So it should make up for it!
Last night was great!!! We were still in vacay mode, so we had a really special dinner- Garlic Bread, Shrimp and Krab Greek Salad , with White wine and i made mini strawberry shortcakes. It was really yummy. AAAAAAGGGGG!!!!
This week my resolution is to eat lunch from home 3 days a week. Today I brought lean cuisine and strawberries!!! I’m getting J into this eating lunch from home mode. Maybe with all our savings we can take another trip!!!
We also went to the playground by our house and hung out till midnight, which was a really bad idea,cuz we didn’t make it out of bed till 8:30 and didn’t get out of the house till 9. From tonight, i’m going to be better!
I am supposed to go see a movie tonight, but I’m getting there kinda early so I think I might buy myself a yummy indian dinner!
