Baby on the Brain

So  its official, J and I are a TTC couple. Its funny, I was so excited for my business trip this month and it turns out those are my fertile days. J says I’m too goal oriented, I just need to go with the ” it will happen when it happens ” flow but I don’t know if I’m cut out for it. J definitely is much more relaxed and easy going about this. I just want to get the show on the road and move on the the next stage. I’m really impatient and I usually prefer action to discussion and to me TTC is the discussion and I’ve had enough discussion, just give me the baby already. In fact, I think I’m willing to skip that pesky nine month pregnancy stage too.  Alas! It is not to be.

Life rolls on pretty smoothly for the most part other than that.  J and I have told a few close friends and my parents that we are trying and almost everyone has been super receptive and excited for us.

Random thought: I found this awesome website called Endless.com that sells shoes and they do free overnight delivery. Yippeee for internet shopping.

From the Hips

I had no idea that this spring was going to be such a busy, life changing spring for me. J and I have been talking pretty seriously for the last year or so about having a child but we had decided to hold off having kids until we left NC and then start having a family. However, this weekend, J and I asked ourselves some really hard questions and we realized that realistically we won’t be able to move away from Durham until December 2009 at the earliest. This then led us to discuss if it then made sense for us to have a baby before we move, especially if we weren’t leaving here until Dec then our start time for starting a family was going to be pushed back by 18 months, which to me would be a really long time to wait. So after much discussion, we made the decision that we are going to start trying now and move after we have a child.  I bought this book to get me thinking about being a mama and I’m loving reading about everything so far, even though I’m super scared.

Fashion

Suit Up

As a part of my promotion from last week, I will now get to travel to conferences throughout the country. The first one I’m going to is at the end of the month in Orlando, so to prepare for it I decided to buy myself a nice suit. I’ve had a boring black suit for a while now for interviews, etc, but I’ve never really worked in an office where I had to wear suits I didn’t really have one I loved. So I remedied the situation by going to Ann Taylor Loft and getting this cute one below! I do need to find something cute to wear under though!

Happiness is February

I can’t believe one month of 2009 is already gone! I’m trying to not be sad about it but get excited for Feb! I have some fun things coming up and I’m really looking forward to a short month!

The biggest thing going on is that K is coming from SLC to visit me for 4 whole days! I’m super excited, we have plans of going out, sleeping in, doing some scrapbooking etc and just having a fun girly time.

Also, Anthony Bourdain is coming to the new Durham Performing Arts center this month and I absolutely love love love him. I just finished reading Kitchen Confidential and I love his show No Reservations on the Travel Channel, I think he goes to the most amazing places and I definitely share his view points about cuising and culture, so yeah, super excited to see him.

J and I will also have plans to go see a Spearhead concert and maybe check out a few local bands to expand our musical horizons. Also, Its Valentine’s day, so I’ll get to be all romantic and eat good food for a day. Also, the weather has turned, its still cold but not too bad and the forecast calls for clear sunny days. All in all, Happiness looks like February

Check out some Bourdain eye candy! Ofcourse pics are not by me, its from Google Images

A Royal Carribean Cruise!

I was sitting at my desk thinking wistfully that this time last week , I was in Nassau, tipping over a jet ski and that motivated  me to update my blog about our fun cruis to the Bahamas and Florida.

J and I had the best time and it was super special cuz we took this trip to celebrate our one year anniversary and also have super late honeymoon. We did loads of fun things like

We went on a jetski

I fell off a jetski and then a little while later, J was showing off so he flipped the Jetski and both of us were in the water

Saw some of the most gorgeous sunsets from our ship

Got into Atlantis for free and saw their sharks and stingrays

Lost $5.00 gambling

Laid out on the beach and just relaxed.

Ate delicous food

Ate Conch fritters

Saw chickens in Key West

Our stateroom, it was tiny but really cozy and we loved looking out of our porthole every morning.

img_3492The main centrum of the ship,I thought it was really pretty.

img_3528There’s a little plaque next to this gate that says “Central Bank of Bahamas”. This must be their old office because the only security it has was some barbed wire.

img_3540I love the color of the water in this photo. Also this pic is taken after we had snuck into Atlantis. Yay!

img_3556Those Conch fritters were damn tasty. To me it tasted like a mix between shrimp and oyster and then they were deep fried in dough and served with fry sauce! So delicious

img_3559One of the many cool sunsets, this one is looking over downtown Nassau

img_3634Other cities have pigeons that roam around freely in public spaces, in Key west its Chickens!

Lucky Strike Tower

I just learned to use the new embed feature from picasa web so I thought I’d post some photos I took of the Lit Up Lucky Strike Tower. This is a landmark in Durham NC and is a part of the historic American Tobacco District. This huge tower was lit up for Christmas and J and I went out there to take some photos on Christmas eve.

Tagged!

I’ve been tagged by Jessica!
What are your nicknames? Naina, Anna, Nainama, Kid, Babe (only by J).

What’s your Chinese Astrology sign? Be specific, with the element and stuff! Specific? I’m a rooster but I don’t know my element. I know my sign in the regular zodiac is Leo which is apparently a fire sign. Does that help? I’m not a big believer in the zodiac.

What’s the last book you read?  The Fingersmith. It was very weird and trippy. Its a neo-gothic novel set in victorian era England, but its a story about girls who were petty thieves during that era. I liked it okay.

What color shirt are you wearing now? A pink wooly v neck sweater.

Are you an introvert or extrovert? Extrovert sometimes, Introvert at others. Overall, i enjoy being around other people. Although this wasn’t the case in my teen years. (Jessica, you know what I’m talking about).

Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer?  If those were the only options then firefox, but I’m loving Chrome these days.

Do you nap a lot? I’m not a big napper. Every once in a while I’ll nap on weekend afternoons, but I always wake up grumpy. I’m more of a sleeping in kind of girl. I can still sleep in until 11 am or so easy on weekend mornings.

What was/were your favorite childhood toys? Books, Dolls, and really random stuff. My favorite game was to play shopkeeper. So I tried to arrange all my toys , books etc and sell them to my family and friends.

What’s your current fandom/obsession/addiction? Sims2/3, Weeds on Showtime, Anthony Bourdain, Andrew Zimmern and Tastespotting, I’m addicted to that site.

What are you currently reading?  Kitchen  Confidential by Anthony Bourdain. See above.

What was the last thing you ate today?  Indian buffet for lunch

How long does it take you to get ready in the morning? Not long. 20 mins if I’m not washing my hair in the morning, 35 mins if I am.

What websites do you visit daily? Tastespotting, Facebook, Frugal Fashionista, Gmail, Yahoo and accuweather.com. I vary it up a lot.

What’s the last movie you watched? Blow to feed my Johnny Depp Addiction. Before that House Bunny, don’t ask. No really.

Do you like to clean? Ewwwww….No. I would rather clean a little and stay on top of things than do marathon cleaning sessions. Unless I’m angry, I like to clean when I’m angry.

What time is your usual bedtime?  Eleven- Eleven thirtyish. Depends on if I want to watch Daily Show that night or not.

Do you read any web comics? If I do, I don’t know I’m reading it.

What is your favorite weather?  Sunny, breezy, warm days if I’m going to be outside. Rainy, cloudy, cozy days if I’m going to be at home.

Where would you see yourself in ten years? Its actually something I’ve been asking myself a lot lately and I’ve concluded I don’t really know. But I do want to be a mom and own a house and have a job I absolutely love!
