Top 10 favorite things about summer

1) Coronas with Lime and BBQ. They are good in the winter too, but summer makes them special! Margaritas on the rocks are pretty close too
2) 4th of July BBQs with fireworks, or general BBQs. Watching fireworks in sugarhouse park and going to a party afterwards. Also Pioneer Day fireworks in Tremonton Utah.
3) Hanging around at play grounds. Brings back childhood memories. Especially fun to hang out late evening/night times. Always leads to good discussion and some “major” event
4) Cucumber Sandwiches. I know this is an odd one, but my mom would make these sandwiches with white bread , butter , cucumber, salt and pepper and they were nice and cool in teh summer
5) Riding in the car with KD , with her radio blaring anything from Rock, pop to oldies. Especially when she had Michelle’s tracker.
6)White Tank tops. With jeans, skirts, etc. Its the ultimate summer shirt, makes me feel very alive
7) Hiking to these waterfalls in the canyons, we used to do it atleast once every summer,and then we would make yummy tin foil dinners after the hike…..yummm… and I guess it could also be hiking in general
8) Being out in a boat on a lake. I am specifically recalling last summer, when we went to the lake with some of J’s old roommates and just water skiied, tubed and wakeboarded. Also, other watersports aka…river rafting. J and I went with his last lab the last two years and it was really fun.
9) Going to Amusement Parks. Especially ones with a water park too. Fake Rafting in chlorinated water is the best. Also scary rides!
10) Road Trips and Family Vacays.

Top 10 personal issues

Weekend was mostly uneventful. Blah….I am getting too old for drama….I am going to steal KD’s idea from her site and do a top 10 issues of my life. For those who know us will see the similarites in the list and know why exactly we are friends

1) Time Management. When I am busy , I get everything done, when I am not busy, i procratinate like its a sport
2) Needy friends, boyfriends, parents, co-workers, people in general. I cannot be as involved in other people’s love/personal lives like I used to be. I only share my drama with 3 people max and expect other people to do the same and hopefully not have me as one of them.
3)Avoiding Conflict/Confrontation. I need to just tell people to leave me alone when I don’t want to do something, instead of feeling overwhelmed and guilty when i don’t go along with a plan or feeling resentful when I do
4) Body Insecurities. I know everyone has them, so I just need to get over it
5) Being Flirty. Should flirt if I want to and I should give people the boot if I want to and not worry what anyone thinks about my social skills
6) Being “bossed” around. I know what I want and i know why i want it, if i don’t, its still my life. I am tired of people I ‘ve allowed in my life-friends, family and b.f all need to stop telling me what to do , when I haven’t for an opinion.
7) Being overly analytical. I am getting better at this though!
8) Being more creative in my fashion choices. I am pretty darn good, but i can be better
9) Going to the gym. Must be more committed
10) Eating better and taking care of my health. i really don’t do this at all, because I am lazy and eat junk food and I avoid check ups, cuz I am deathly afraid of doctors. If i die at 30 no one will be surprised

Whew….that feels really good!!! Okay so maybe KD’s and mine are not that similar but its still obvious why we are friends…atleast to me anyway(insert cute “awwww” here )

Maybe this top 10 thing can be a weekly thing. Will ask her about it.

Perfect Brunch

Ingredients for a perfect sunday :

Crepes

4 eggs
1 cup flour
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup water
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons melted butter

Measure all ingredients in to blender jar; blend for 30 seconds. Scrape down sides. Blend for 15 seconds more. Cover and let sit for 1 hour. (This helps the flour absorb more of the liquids.)

Makes 12-14 crepes.

Toppings: Nutella, Strawberries, Bananas, Salmon, Cream cheese , Mexican green Chile, RS’s cream sauce, mango, kiwis

Sides: Sausage, Strawberry shortcake,

Beverages: Mimosas, Scotch and Soda, OJ and tea

Add some interesting people, some old and boring people, a great backyard, a cd player on shuffle and you have a sunday brunch worthy or journal entries(ha) and memoirs.

I love the fact that I’m at a place in my life, where i can plan outfits, not work outfits, cuz they are a little boring and i mostly just have to play a certain part, but weekend outfits, brunch outfits, club outfits, dept party outfits, friends band outfits. I am so glad that I ‘m not 18 and stuck in jeans and top mode, though that is still the staple.

Furniture Dates

Buying and Moving Furniture was a huge part of my weekend. Who knew transporting an entertainment center on top of a subaru would be so nerve wracking…..he he he. Also, I have added another thing to my list of stuff I have done- Rented a Uhaul. For some odd reason I am very proud of myself. I didn’t drive it, J did but hey it was out out under my name. I guess I am excited cuz I have never rented a car before.

Weird loophole- you can rent a u haul van and whether you are 25 or under makes absolutely no difference, but while renting a ford focus its a big deal. Why?

Saturday, when we rented the U-haul we drove to Efland NC to pick up the dresser and the dining table.Efland NC is about 25 mins from Durham , so basically out in the country . And although J and I were fighting on the whole drive there, once we pulled into the country road, we immediately started chatting about how fun it would be to live in the country. Our sellers had this cute house in a little lot with a stream on their backyard and lots of forests and meadows around. It look very picturesque!

So now…day dreaming about Country Living. I am so fickle!

Went and met the girl from Craigslist. I thought it went well and maybe we’ll be friends. I always wonder if other people think I’m a loud mouth cuz I do talk a loth. So now, I don’t know if there is some kind of etiquette, where I wait 3 days to get back to her or should i send her a follow up email today. Foreign Territory. What would Rob Gordon do?

Also there is CHG, I don’t understand that girl. She is incapable of normal girly contact. So formal. Its impossible to get her to open up. Maybe its me?

1 veggie omlette with cheese

2 glasses sweet tea

1/2 grilled greek grilled cheese pita
1/2 cup pasta salad
1/2 cup each mango and lime sorbetto
1 hamburger
fries
2 coronas

Monday
1 bagel with egg,bacon and cheese
Greek Salad w/ olive and bleu cheese dressing
2 cheese enchiladas w/ sourcream(very fatty)
1/2 cut beans w/ cheese
tortilla chips

1 italian sub ( with mayo and olive oil)

1.5 glasses of Chardonnay
1 cheese enchilada
1 chicken taco
chips and salsa.

Monday
1 sausage biscuit
1 hash brown
1 coffee
1 yoghurt
1 can Pineapple
3/4 chicken breast
1/2 cup mashed potatoes

It wasn’t a healthy food weekend and I only worked out on sunday. I can only spend so many hours at the gym!

Friday night we went out to Satisfactions with the green street house people and then went back to their house and smoked the hookah some more, till J decided to get super drunk and stupid philosophical. Actually he didn’t start out stupid, he asked interesting question about time and space and the futility of science( ideas from his Godel Escher and Bach, which i really want to read, but seems like a huge commitment), but he was drunk and really sloppy and people still tried to run with it and form their own ideas and theories, while answering his questions. But he had to ruin it cuz he was so drunk that he wouldn’t let anyone else talk and kept repeating the same thing over and over again. I have definitely had better times at that house!
Anyway we got home at 5 and since he was drunk, he went on a self pity tirade which included some not so nice comments to me but i was drunk too , so we just fell asleep and didn’t wake up till 3:00 pm saturday afternoon and that just killed all plans for the rest of the day!

We didn’t do a whole on saturday other than watch Stepford Wives (new one with Nicole Kidman) it was better than I thought, maybe because I had zero expectations from it. Sunday we went to the gym and watched the UNC -Duke Basketball game with some friends,and the rest of the evening was fine.

J and I are both really insecure people and I think that is what makes our relationship rocky at times, I try to be supportive about his “smartness” insecurites and he tries to be supportive( doesn’t do such a hot job) with my body issues but we both fall short. But for right now i think we’ve patched up and are coasting along. It hit me this morning that I have been with the same person for more than 2 years and its crazy we’ve managed to hold it together for so long, since it really shouldn’t have lasted.Wow!!!!

No new acquisitions for this weekend other than a new respect and understanding of my relationship! Also i might go to Africa in Aug ( 85% sure) Hell yeah!!!

I really think we should pitch this idea to Fox Network….instead of super nannies and America’s Next Top Moldel and Apprentice , we should have show where …
12 inexpereienced women compete and backstab each other for a job as a nanny and they can all stay in a two bedroom apt and provide lots of crying and drama, and schemes of sleeping with the boss…maybe even a lesbian mom spinoff ….oh yeah that’s going to be a great show….
Also what do u think of the subject of periods appearing on blogs, my period has been so whack this month, that I really wanted to write about it on my blog ,but I thought that might be too much info for some middle aged man who might accidentally stumble across the blog…what do u think? I know the world is worried about people who blog their job details…should there be any regulation on ‘”period details”? Sorry…i’m in a weird mood!!!
Weight Watchers is a great idea, everybody I know has had great results from it. I can’t wait for you to update your journal…is it too much pressure to update, now that you know I read it????

Green Hookah

Sooooo tired.

Last night we went over to the green street house and hung out with those guys. It was mostly fun, other than when their research conversations got too full of jargon and I stopped paying attention. They also got a new roommate who seems pretty cool, almost fits the CS role /niche in this developing clique. I also smoked some Green Apple Tobacco from a hookah last night. Wasn’t a super buzz… i think it was the novelty factor that made it cool! Also it made me think that my great grandpa probably used to drag the hookah while watching baijis perform. What can i say… 1/4 of me is from that kind of stock…should i be proud or dismayed…

Also…question of the day …is cuddling with a friend of the opposite sex cheating? especially if you are in a serious relationship…hmmmm? I used think it wasn’t a big deal and i used to cuddle with a male friend when I first started dating J, but now i would feel very very strongly against it. Maybe I am overly conservative and possesive….i just want my partner to me the most intimate with me. I’ll have to think more about this. At this point if J were to have a super close female friend, who wasn’t my friend too, I would have huge issues with it and I think he would feel the same. Sometimes I think he and I are too uptight .

Polar Express

So…All the reviewers were right , Polar Express sucks. Even being stoned out of my mind couldn’t help the movie. Tom Hanks was everywhere , which was creepy. It was one long monologue of him talking to himself basically.

The animation was stiff and robotic and the character’s eyes stared back at you just a little longer that it needed to, giving the impression, they were out to get me.

Cheesy Music! Cheesier story line! But worth watching if you are going to have a whole theater to yourself with two of your good friends , while completely fried.

I bet the ride is going to be way cool though! That is if they can convince the amusement parks the movie was a hit.
