Orange You Grape

Its been a busy week since I started the new job on Monday and I haven’t really had the time to log in and note some major news

-Our closest friends from Durham are moving to Boston. We had a great party on Saturday in their honor and also a fun dinner at an Italian place last night.

-J totalled his car, don’t worry, he is okay, but his airbags went off and the front of the car is badly damaged, so the insurance company has decided to not bother with repairs. So this means, we will have to get a new car soon.

– My labor day plans have fallen through and now I’m not doing anything for labor day.

-But…all of this isn’t getting me down too much, because I’m now a productive, contributing member of society, with a real job! Hell yeah!!!!

More later about the new position

Today is my last day at my internship. On Monday, I start my brand new job as a Product Coordinator. I’m officially an adult- I’ll actually have benefits, for the first time in my life, I won’t be on someone’s else’s plan, I’ll be on  my own plan, I’ll have a 401k and all that neat stuff…I’m so excited. This is it, this is the moment- I have officially launched my career.

71) I am obsessive about toothpaste. I don’t like it when the tube is squeezed randomly. I like the tube to be squeezed from the bottom up. I always adjust it, otherwise it drives me crazy.

72) I prefer waxing to plucking

73) I have a very low pain tolerance and I can’t stand to watch medical procedures on TV or go to the hospital.

74) I hate when people use corporate jargon in every day speech and use words like “mindshare” “synergy” and “paradigm shift”

75) I think ties on guys is super hot

76) Right now, I have a super ugly,old phone from the 90s cuz I broke cool, sleek one. It makes me look like a real big geek when I whip out my ginormous phone out in public

77) I would like to hate Walmart but I don’t, instead I have very mixed feelings

78 ) I’m a huge procrastinator

79) I think people who don’t have pets are weird

80) I was secretly pleased that it snowed on my wedding day, because I donn’t know too many people who got married in a snow storm

82) Also, I love Disco. I wish the white bell bottoms, big feathery hair, platform wedges and ridiculously sparkly shirts would make a comeback.

84) Freddie Murphy from Queen rocks my world, even though he is long dead. He had better style than a lot of current starlets

85) I also like to pretend that “Killer Queen” was about me

86) I once got a toilet seat as a gift. It was for my American Government class in high school where I was the chairman of a dictatorial state, during a simulation

87) My first french kiss was not enjoyable and I didn’t even want to kiss the guy.

88 ) Swingsets were my favorite playground toy when I was little. I remember when I was in third grade, there was a park just down the street from our house and I was allowed to walk over there myself cuz it was so close. I would spend hours swinging by myself on saturday afternoons and pretend that I was flying

89) I wish I had kept in touch with some of my elementary school friends

90) I went to an all girls boarding school with very strict rules for my 9th grade year. I got in a lot of trouble cuz I broke almost every single rule

91) I love the pomegranite flavor but secretly I think the work involved in eating one is not worth it. I prefer pomegranate juice to the fruit

92) I’d like to try snowboarding, surfing , para-sailing and bungee jumping some day

93) I love rollercoasters and thrill rides

94) I love wearing Indian clothes and I sometimes wish I lived in India so that I could wear my pretty indian clothes more often

95) I’m bad about moisturizing but I’m trying to get better

96) I love Instant Messenger, its the best invention of the 20th century, even better than email or the internet. But I guess you need the internet for messenger, or do you?..hmmm…?

97)  The scariest moment of my life was when I had to take J to the hospital and they said he had a blood clot that could be lethal

98 ) I finally had shrimp and grits for the first time this year and I have decided that I can actually tolerate grits if they come with shrimp and bacon, but I guess I can pretty much tolerate everything if it comes with shrimpand bacon

99) I can’t believe I’m actually finishing this list

100) I have never been in one of those infinity pools and I really want to be in one

36) I listen to music in a very odd way. I’ll like a band or song and listen to it obsessively for weeks and then not listen to it again for months

37) I am anti apple. The company and the fruit

38 ) I talk to my mom at least once a day

39) I don’t like cake, dessert and ice cream too much. I love chips and other salty, spicy things

40) However, I love dark chocolate, the darker the better

41) Nobody calls me by my real/legal name

42)  I drove cross country by myself. There was no one in the car with me except for me and the road and music. It was the most bizzarre, beautiful and challenging trip of my life. Before this trip, the farthest I had driven was 3 hours and I drove for nearly 10 hours a day for nearly three days.

43) I don’t mind eating by myself in restaurants. I actually kind of like it sometimes. I also don’t mind going to the movies alone, but I have only done it once

44) I love collecting vintage children’s fiction, but not picture books. I like the books that are for 6 years and up. Especially stories about daring, spunky kids who have fun adventures

45) I was a tomboy when I was growing up. I loved to climb trees and build forts and solve mysteries

46) I want to retire and live in an old country manor house in England

47) I love hot italian sausages. With eggs

48 ) I don’t think I have really grown up

50) I keep a whiteboard in my kitchen with a list of all the things I want to do, just to remind myself of my big goals

51) I love to sleep in late. I have been known to easily sleep in until 2 or 3 in the afternoon on weekends

52) I love big, huge black sunglasses, that J says makes me look like a bug

53) When I was in high school I wanted to work at the UN. I made a skit about it with my friends

54) I went through a phase in elementary school, where i refused to wear pants. I only wore skirts or dresses.  It was hard to climb trees in dresses so I started wearing pants again

55) I did not have long hair until I was 14. My hair was always super short and most people thought I was a boy

56) My grandfather was my favorite playmate. He pretty much went along with whatever game i wanted to play. He didn’t mind that I always insisted on winning

57) I’m a bit of a crybaby. I cry in movies, books, commercials, everything. I cry when I’m angry

58 ) Someday I want to own a bookstore/winebar where people can eat fun little appetizers, drink wine and browse for books

59) i love watching matinee shows of big blocbuster movies in the theater in the summer

60) I don’t own anything Nike. I don’t buy any of their stuff because of their child labor scandal, but even when things got resolved, i just never bought anything.

61) In 5th grade, i told all my class matest that I had a older brother. He was always ” at a friend’s house” whenever they came over. I don’t know if they figured out that I was lying, thankfully I moved.

62) When I was a very little girl, I wanted to be a forest ranger, I would drive around on my red trycyle and try to protect our courtyard which was obviously a forest

63) I like how boys smell. They smell so masculine and different from any other smell in the world, especially J

64) I don’t know if I 100% believe in ghosts but like Mulder “I want to believe” and get a good scare

65) I used to read Xfiles fan fiction

66) I sat a statue of a metal bull, butt naked, on a moonlit night to become an ultimate aggie.

67) I like dares, I like trespassing, and I like the adrenaline of thinking I might get caught

68 ) I’m not usually too afraid of anything, bugs, etc

69) I think I’ll try anything once. Even weird food like bugs, brains etc or whatever Andrew Zimmern features on his show. I love that show

70) I like Martha Stewart and I was really sad when she went to jail

At the the urging of my friend HotHotJJ, I have decided to also do a blog post called 100 things you may not know about me. So here goes

1) When I was younger I only wanted to live till I was 30. I was convinced I would die on my 30th Birthday

2) I love the color yellow.

3) Bracelets or anything that you wear on your wrists are my favorite accessory. So i have loads of bangles, wrist cuffs, bracelets,etc, etc

4) I can’t get through the day without diet coke

5) I hate taking medication, of any sort. I usually wait until my aches are unbearable before I’ll take an aspirin or a tylenol

6) I like getting my period

7) I would die if I couldn’t read. I read almost every genre of books and magazines

8 ) I’m addicted to blogs

9) I’ve a unhealthy relationship with facebook. I check it obsessively

10) I’m a cheapskate at heart. I love free stuff

11) I went to 17 schools before I was 15

12)  I have lived in Saudi Arabia

13) I love almost every kind of food except for cooked peas, carrots and brussel sprouts

14) I love cheese fries. Outback and Dees have the best ones

15) My favorite drink is a Jack Daniels with diet coke.

16) I love to make my own vodka infusions with all sorts of crazy ingredients. I am currently attempting Limoncello

17) I love to cook but only on the days that I’m in the mood to cook. i can’t cook every single day

18 ) I can’t bake. I have now ruined box brownies twice. I have decided to give up

19) I can be really ditzy sometimes and say really dumb things. My friends make fun of me for this endlessly.

20) I used to be a vegetarian for about 3 years but I can’t go back to it because I love meat, fish, chicken and shrimp way too much

21) I like my steak medium rare

22) I can swing from social butterfly to solitary hermit in 60 seconds

23) I have quick temper that flares up really fast but cools down really fast too

24) I hate cleaning but I like organizing

25) I tend to get pretty competitive at almost everything

26) I was a big nerd in high school

27) I love board games, especially scrabble. I can usually beat everyone in my family and J

28 ) J was my fling, I never thought we would actually get married

29) I actually now like North Carolina. I hated it so much when i first moved here

30) I moved to Toronto for 3 mos

31) I love forests, beaches and mountains

32) But , I think I’m too much of a city girl to ever move out to the woods

33) I can’t watch commercials about the Humane society, or ASPCA because it makes me cry

34) I love crazy colored nailpolish. My favorite are lime green, tangerine, and purple

35) I am a very weak swimmer. I don’t like being in pools/lakes where I can’t touch the bottom easily.

I’ve been ignoring this blog lately, just because of the stressful job search and dealing with family stuff but I’m dedicating this friday afternoon to play blog catch up.

General stuff going on:

1) J and I had a small memorial puja for my grandma on wednesday afternoon at the Hindu Temple in Morrisville. (They had memorial services for her in India that day as well)

2) The job search is kicking my butt. Can I just vent and say how much I hate interviews….grrr

3) My good friends JenE and her boyfriend will be visiting us next weekend from Tennessee. I ‘m super excited to see her since my wedding.

Other than that things have been pretty mellow and chill around here.
