So, I need Invitations for the wedding to be sent out….right now. We are a going to be a week or so late and I guess thats going to have to be okay. I went to Kinko’s today to find out how much it is going to be and it seems like it will save me about $50.00 if I get my invites printed there instead of ordering it online. I should be jumping up and down right? Except, the guy was really up front with me and mentioned that there could be some problems with the bleeds and the cutting , which makes me wonder if its worth the $50.00. However, its enough money that can used towards another wedding expense quite effectively. What to do? I think,I’m leaning more towards Kinko’s at the moment. Anyone out there with any other ideas?

Busy
Its been rather busy the last couple of days, both at home and work , therefore the lack of posts. The biggest development I think is that I’m finally out of my wedding apathy funk. I’m a wedding planning machine these days- making calls, sending emails, looking at quotes, making decisions.
I had a phone meeting with my photographer last week about the wedding day and she brought up some issues that I hadn’t considered
-Lighting
– Timeline for the day
-Getting ready.
Need to get these things figured out soon.
However, I did update the wedding website with our lodging info and a break down of activities. Have also started looking more closely at favor options. I am also getting excited about my wedding present from KD. We are going on a trip to Las Vegas just the two of us! I am soooo excited.
Good Deal
One more thing can be crossed off the to-do list of wedding planning. KD’s husband has kindly offered to be our videographer. This saves me a huge hassle because a) it will be free and b) it will also help T to expand his portfolio. Also , I don’t have to worry about coordinating with and interviewing a complete stranger in this busy time. Also T know both J and me very well and I’m sure he will capture the essence of our wedding very well. Thanks T !

Quiet
Its been a quiet couple of days in this part of the world, not much has been going on, hence the lack of blogging. This weekend was a nice mellow weekend, where J and I had some traditional summer fun.
Friday, I took a 1/2 day vacation and we spent the afternoon at the pool. It was the perfect temperature, a little cool in the water, but really hot out of it. Saturday, we slept in and then decided to cash in our change jar and we got $40 out of it. We spent the money on dinner and by buying this new game at Barnes and Noble at Blokus. So sat night we spent playing our new game and Scrabble. J beat me at the first two rounds of Blokus but I slaughtered him in the last round. And in Scrabble , I beat our all time record and got a 344. Yipeee. I love Scrabble.
I did my favorite thing in the world on Sunday- Curl up on the love sac and read. We also went and saw Oceans 13. I thought it was a pretty good movie, not as good as the first one, but definitely better than Ocean’s 12. I think I heart Casey Affleck. I want to see him in more movies. Sunday night,J and I also started looking at invitations together and I think we have our favorites picked out. Finally!
In other non noteworthy news, I have got J into Law and Order,so last night we ordered a pizza and watched two episodes of Law and Order on USA and two episodes of the Sopranos (J got me into that) on A&E. What can I say, we are crime loving family.
90 Days
I am officially freaking out now! I am getting married in 90 days, 3 months, one quarter. I can’t deal with this. I looked at the Knot Checklist today of things I should have crossed off and I have only crossed of 42 items they expected me to have 138 items crossed off the list. Deep breaths….its gonna be okay….right?
I have broken down my to do list for this month into 3 categories:
Urgent
Find and book caterer
Convince J to apply for passport ASAP
Order Invitations and start addressing them
Less Urgent
Convince J to inform his groomsmen on their attire
Start writing our ceremony and vows with officiant
Figure out hair , makeup, accessories for self
If it happens it happens….
Videographer
Decorations
Florists
DIY v Generic
So according to all the wedding sites, I need tostart focussing on invitations . I am so torn about this , because I love every kind of paper item imaginable. Take me to a scrapbook, stationary, or even a book store and its heaven for me. But since we are doing two weddings and in the interest of sticking within a budget, I have chosen to cut down on invitation spending. I also felt justified in scrimping in this area becasue other than our immediate family and few close friends, the invites are going to end up in the trash anyway. So this means I have two options
1) DIY Invites. Design our invites on photoshop and then hire a local printer or Kinkos to print them out for us. This would be my preffered method of doing it except I’m not as photoshop savvy as I’d like to be and I wonder if the costs of buying paper and printing at Kinko’s will end up being more expensive in the long run, in terms of time and sanity. I have already decided I’m going to DIY programs, so DIYing invites seems too much work. Plus, J is not in favor of DIY invites.
2) Buy a more “generic” invite from an online retailer. It will be a little more expensive but it will take away a lot of the planning burden off of me. Also J is in favor of pre made invites because he feels it will look way nicer than anything we come up with on our own. It does have some negatives, like I will have to spend hours finding invites that do not have hearts, doves, butterflies, flowers, bells, kissing children, angels….yadayadayada. Its hard to find budget friendly premade invites that are funky and cool and most of the ones i like are in the $200 range. And most importantly, I hate white 😦
As I continue the search this week, I will post a few that appeal to me.
Its Official!!!!
J just booked our tickets. We are getting married in UT. Yipeee. We will be in UT from Sep 27 to Oct 8. I have missed SLC so much! I can’t believe I am finally going back and to get married too! We also got a really awesome deal on the tickets thanks to my favorite activity at work – slacking off and searching the internet.
